Description
The people in the streets are celebrating the birth of the People's Republic of China, which officially became the ruling political party in China in 1949. Despite the initial optimism demonstrated by the PRC, these same Chinese citizens would endure crippling hardships under the party platform. Its isolationist government would prevent other nations from stepping in to aid the country's woes, but the initial promise this poster suggests was a dream China's citizens were willing to believe in.
