Description
The United Nations was established in 1945 at the end of World War II to encourage diplomatic relations between members and foster peaceful negotiation to international issues. Recognizing a wide range of poltical and cultural differences, in later years the group would become more of a vehicle to punish humanitarian violations and maintain alliances between democracies and their enemies, certainly not their intended purpose at its inception.
