Description
On a bus, on a train, in a car, on the streets of London. No area of public life offered a safe environment for certain conversations during wartime, as this political cartoon shows. One could never be sure who might be listening, in the hope that casual conversation might lead to the disclosure of military secrets jeopardizing an entire nation's military action. Wartime did not limit international travel, and therefore Britons needed to be aware of how sharing classified information in public might put the lives of their country's defenders in danger.
